A community of Writers:
Over this past week, we have worked a lot in small groups. When reading your writing a a small group, the power of being heard is ever present and powerful. By listening to others and responding to others in a thoughtful way, you make meaningful connections with your peers. When a student gives another student a piece of good feedback in a group setting, it strengthens the groups dynamic and the writer-to-writer relationship. I think to truly develop a good community of writers, small group activities and meaningful feed back are 100% necessary. Additionally, activities like the flip-grid activity are also important because it allows the writers to present to a larger audience, even if it is uncomfortable. The truly important part of the activity was the response and critique. The critique is incredibly important because it allows the same personal and thoughtful critique to be shared with a much larger audience.
